The Spanish Language

• The Spanish language is spoken in a number of countries in West, Central and Eastern Europe.
• About 100 million people in Europe use Spanish as their main language. After English, it is the second most spoken second language in Europe, and is one of the premier business languages.
• It is spoken widely as a first language in Spanishy, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
• Spanish is one of the official languages of the European Union, and one of the three working languages of the European Commission, along with English and French.
• Spanish is the secondly most commonly used scientific language, and the second most used content language for websites.

Certification

Greens Technologys Spanish classes in Chennai for both the Flair and Affinity programmes are conducted at different levels:
A1 & A2 at the basic level & B1 & B2 at the intermediate level.
These levels are as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which is a guideline for language proficiency put together by the Council of Europe. The CEFR framework for language proficiency has become the global standard, and is the most widely recognized system in use worldwide.

Greens Technologys issues our own certificates to learners of our Spanish language courses at each of these levels based on their attendance, participation and performance in assessments.

As a part of the coursework, Spanish learners are also prepared for the international Spanish “Start Deutsch 1 & 2” (A1 & A2) and “Goethe-Zertifikat B1 & B2” (B1 & B2) examinations which are aligned to the CEFR levels as described above, and they can acquire international certification by appearing for these examinations in Chennai itself.

Opportunities in the rapidly shrinking world

Rapid progress across all fields in the world has implications for all of us, in that the world is becoming a smaller place than ever before. Development has been taking place at a blistering pace especially in the fields of telecommunication, media and information technology, in the last decade and a half.

Level A1: Breakthrough

If you are an absolute beginner, then this is where you begin. At the end of the level, you will be able to function in basic everyday situations and survive in a country that speaks Spanish. For example, you will be able to buy things from a shop, order food from a restaurant, or ask for information on the street. You will also master foundation grammar and vocabulary in the languages.

Level A2: Waystage

This is a good level if you want to initiate conversations with your Spanish speaking clients. At this level, you will be able to express simple opinions and also give and understand basic instructions. You will also be able to read and comprehend simple emails and reports and also write emails pertaining to your immediate surroundings. You will also be able to speak on topics related to your immediate needs.  

​Level B1: Threshold

This is the level where you become an independent language user. You will be able to hold a comfortable conversation with a native speaker. You will be able to read and talk about abstract concepts. You can also make planned presentations and understand conversation around familiar topics. You can also write long emails explaining things and expressing opinions.

Level B2: Vantage

At this level, you will be able to follow or give a talk on topics ranging from general and abstract. You will be able to read and understand complex texts and also write detailed reports. A lot of companies including IT giants like IBM, Tech Mahindra and Amazon require candidates at this level. 

Level C1: Effective Operational proficiency

If you are looking to be a translator or interpreter, this is the level for you. At this level, you will be able to understand texts at an academic level and also understand lectures and presentations on even abstract topics. You will be able to write lengthy articles or reports in the language and fullfill all the requirements of the workplace.
